PCAC Co-Lead Joseph Harrington Featured on UChicago Medicine’s Community Health Focus Hour

Patient Community Advisory Committee (PCAC) Co-Lead Joseph Harrington recently joined Dr. Edwin McDonald on the UChicago Medicine Community Health Focus Hour. The episode, “Clinical Research: Why Should African Americans Participate?,” highlighted the importance of African American representation in clinical research.

Though historically, African Americans have valid trust issues around clinical research, research has lead to medical breakthroughs that can save lives and improve the quality of life. Some medicines may have differing race-dependent outcomes, so active participation of African Americans in research is vital to learn what factors influence individuals and communities.
